A big part of what amounts to conservative ideology (which is built around Strict Father morality) is highly prescribed and restrictive and as you said, one must adhere to the "rules" and the norms or pay the price. I'm with you - no thank you. I want to live my life the way that I want to (that isn't hurting anyone else) and allow others to do the same.
