A truly excellent piece! If you get the chance, check out the 2017 movie, Professor Marston and the Wonder Women. Marsten and his wife Elizabeth, professors at Harvard and Radcliffe, begin a relationship with research assistant Olive Byrne. After Olive gets pregnant and Marsten gets fired from Harvard, the three move in together and form their own unconventional family. Olive takes care of both her and Elizabeth's kids, so that Elizabeth can become the main breadwinner. Marsten eventually starts his female empowering (but also BDSM undertoned) comic series about Wonder Woman.

It's a really smart and sensitively done film about people with unconventional attitudes who are vilified by the mainstream, but nonetheless find ways to live and express themselves in ways that matter. Spoiler alert: After Marsten's death, Olive and Elizabeth lived together for many more years.

For sure, what we are messaged through the media and popular culture influences us in all sorts of ways that are mostly subconscious. What we put in our heads can't help but impact us. Fourth Wave is certainly doing its part to participate in that for the good.
