Ai! I think some people are just looking for a way to be outraged at something. Their preconceived ideas/emotions get in the way and it’s like a haze goes across their eyes. I can’t count the number of times I’ve written something full of obvious citations and quotes and then been told that I don’t have any basis for saying what I’ve said.

One time I got a comment saying, “Yeah, but you didn’t speak to this, you’re only talking about that, so it doesn’t count.” I then requoted him from the OP where I was using a quote that specifically mentioned both and he still couldn’t see it because he was blinded by his emotional response and I finally had to quote it a third time and ask “What’s going on here? Why can’t you see that I’ve said it three times?” I knew what was going on — he was blinded by his emotional reaction because I was presenting evidence of something that he didn’t believe.

It’s very frustrating! Hang in there……..
