Although I still routinely deal with haters and snarks who say things reflexively because it’s annoyed them that I have dared to speak at all, I also hear from a lot of men who get it, who are disgusted with that kind of behavior, and who want a world that works better for everyone. It’s very heartening.
The other thing that gives me some hope is that in many business settings they are moving towards more partnership-oriented management styles because it’s a lot more agile than the old dominance hierarchy ones. This gives people a chance to learn about and experience something other than the kind of hierarchy they have always known. I think it’s the foothold that can help change the larger society because it’s not only nicer, it also works better.
