And instead of blaming late stage capitalism for that, too many men are blaming women's greater equality. It's entitled and fragile in the extreme - and completely out of touch with the fact that women are not remotely equal.

"HOPE not hate’s data is in line with research conducted by the women’s rights organization Fawcett Society, which found that young men are threatened by feminism. The Fawcett Society, however, also noted that younger men are more likely to identify as feminists, according to Fawcett Society Chief Executive Sam Smethers.

"This explains the high levels of misogyny, abuse, casualized violence, and objectification women experience every day," Smethers told Global Citizen via email. "We need a step change in men's attitudes if we are going to reverse it."

Despite the perceptions of young men surveyed, critics would argue that feminism has not gone far enough in the UK. The UK now ranks 21st on the World Economic Forum’s Gender Equality Index. Women in the country remain underrepresented in politics, and the gender pay gap is not narrowing."

Then there's the fact that women surgeons are routinely being sexually harassed and even groped during medical procedures and everybody knows about it, but nobody does anything about it.

More men need to get their shit together and stop blaming women - who are still demonstrably struggling for basic human decency - for the shitty world that capitalist/patriarchy has given them.

Edit:

Society doesn’t value women more than men, patriarchy values strict gender roles as well as a stratified hierarchy where regular guys count less than rich and powerful ones. In fact, that’s what patriarchy actually is — a dominance-based social hierarchy that is pyramid-shaped. It includes a historical gender power differential between men and women but that’s not the only component. Patriarchy is designed to primarily serve the needs of a relatively few elite men (and their families) in a Might Makes Right dynamic.

Average men don’t count for much in a patriarchal dominance hierarchy, and the way to distract them from that fact is by giving them nominal control of and status over women. But as that aspect has eroded over the past 50 years, the focus has turned instead to blaming women for all the ways that late-stage capitalism and the elites have disadvantaged the average man. Unfortunately, this red herring has worked rather well in some quarters.
