A few months ago I read The Women, a fiction book based on real women's lives about nurses in Vietnam, and all that they saw and dealt with. It was maddening how often they were told "There were no women in Vietnam" or how often their struggles were ignored and discounted by the VA. I know things are better but also that there is a long, long way to go toward actual equality and true respect from all quarters.
