And this right there is a big part of the problem. Women are put on a pedestal and at the same time they are vilified for not buying into this paradigm where they are not treated like a fellow human being, but as some sort of social currency. It's completely dehumanizing and a lot more about (subconsciously) improving ones status in male hierarchies than it is about the actual woman as a person and potential partner.

It's also a disempowering thing for the guy, to approach a woman almost like a supplicant, assuming that she has both the right and the ability to either validate or destroy his self worth. Most women don't like or want that, and it comes across as not self-confident, which is the single sexiest thing a man can be. I wish I could tell more men to stop giving their power away like that - it's offensive to demand that women validate you, but it's also disempowering to men.
