Apparently there's an app called Woman Interrupted, which detects when a male voice speaks over a woman. In the UK, this happens 1.67 times a minute, while in Pakistan it’s 8.28 times. My very lovely and not at all consciously sexist husband used to do that a lot - without even realizing it. It's not a marker of malice (necessarily), it's a marker of culture and we can't improve on things like that unless we let them come into our awareness and conscious thinking. He's much, much better about this now and if he catches himself doing it, he stops and apologizes. So much could improve for us all if more men did that.

Another good essay!

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
