As a fellow autism parent, I’m going to challenge you just a bit. You are a superhero, not because you do things perfectly, but because you are faced with things that most other parents never will be. Sure, parenting is hard, and parenting any special needs child is tough, but many parents (particularly moms or whoever is the primary caregiver) of kids on the spectrum have stress levels that are on par with soldiers in combat.

When people say to me, “I couldn’t do what you do,” they mean well, but the truth is, they would (most of them anyway) if they didn’t have any other choice, just as you and I don’t have any other choice. So in that respect, we are no different than regular parents, but in day to day actuality, we are superheroes. Well, I am, and I’m going to bet that you are as well.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
