As noted in this OP, the actual neo-Nazis out there now are far from hapless buffoons. They know exactly what they are doing and just how effective it is. What we do know is that the manosphere is made up almost entirely of middle class white men who do not like seeing their "place" in the so-called pecking order eroded by greater equality. There's a huge overlap with homophobia and racism in much of it, so I think that's the difference. In the 1980s, when the Blues Brothers movie first came out, straight white men were still squarely at the top of the pyramid of power.
