As someone who is an actually trained and certified life coach I'd like to say that these people are indeed shysters just trying to sell you a product. Real coaches facilitate the individual processes of their clients to help them hone what works best for them. They don't push one-size-fits-all rules and claim they are the answer for everyone. Those sorts of dude bros drive me absolutely crazy, and good for you for making your own way.
