As you said in the beginning, patriarchy is less than 10K years old, so although I really liked all of what you said here, I do have a quibble with this quote: “For the first time in human history, we’re trying to develop relationships that are not based on coercion. -Stephanie Coontz”
It’s not the first time in human history at all. Humans used cooperation and enforced egalitarianism as a survival strategy up until the onset of patriarchy. I think it’s important to recognize that we are not forging new paths; we are simply returning to some that have long served us as human beings that we forgot for a while.
