Because a patriarchy is by (sociological) definition a dominance hierarchy so a matriarchy would also be one as well, just with women oppressing men. And that being said, there are probably plenty of people who feel fine using that term and in truth, I’m really OK with that. My real point is that matriarchies are not in existence in the way that guy in the comment was using the term.
