Years ago, my mom slipped on some ice and landed on her elbow, shattering her upper arm. They told her she would never have full range of motion again, but she wasn't going to accept that. My dad helped her set up a "torture device" at home and worked with her every day on exercises even after her formal physical therapy was done. Within a few months she had full range of motion back.
