Both Trump and Musk are widely viewed as populist icons and the Democratic Party is viewed as the one of the snobby elites who look down on "the little guy." Trump and Musk may be rich and they may indeed actually look down on the little guy - but that's not what they project and that's what matters in politics - how things appear. It's way more important than how things actually are.
