Brene Brown has the right idea about caring about other people’s reactions to you. It’s something along the lines of you should care about what other people think, but only the right people.
“When we stop caring about what people think, we lose our capacity for connection. When we become defined by what people think, we lose our willingness to be vulnerable. If we dismiss all the criticism, we lose out on important feedback, but if we subject ourselves to the hatefulness, our spirits get crushed.” ~Brene’ Brown
I make sense of my world by choosing to believe that there is meaning everywhere, but I also realize that at times, that’s just my human fabrication to feel empowered in a tough situation. Nothing has inherent meaning.
