Bullying and pecking orders are a fundamental element of a dominance hierarchy like patriarchy. It's my assertion that we will never significantly improve racism, homophobia, ablism, misogyny or any other major social ill until we address that fact. And, men will continue to be negatively impacted by the isolation this system demands of them - continuing to have an epidemic of violence and suicide.

A really great piece. I'm so glad that you wrote it! It's a truly dysfunctional system that harms nearly everyone and yet many men are deeply attached to defending and upholding it. Women have been trying to point out how it hurts them too, but they are much more likely to listen to another man. The part about the Kata was really interesting.
