But the world of dominance hierarchy is only 10,000 years old. For 97% of human existence, we didn’t live that way. It doesn’t mean that there was never any jealousy or violence, but it does mean that humans lived largely cooperatively and in ways that were for the good of the collective as well as their own good. Saying that human nature leads to the need to live in a highly stratified system that is pyramid shaped, with just a few elite at the top and everyone else scrambling to get on a higher rung by stepping on someone else is just not historically correct. It’s a very, very new development.
You also have not yet explained to me how sexual access is a resource that is limited and therefore needs to have the level of competition that engenders rape as a means of obtaining it. Again, for 97% of human history, people (both male and female) mated with whom they wanted to when they wanted to. Rape is another function of exerting dominance and control. That’s why it’s so often used as a weapon of war, even today. You are making it sound like rape is only perpetrated by men who don’t have access to sex in any other way, and I see no evidence to support that — except perhaps in prison.
I like your avatar as well. Mine is a picture of the goddess Aphrodite -goddess of sex and love. She has her elbow cocked (Elle Beau). 😉
I do try to give practical advice. I am, at heart, always a pragmatist.
