But you haven't shown a single instance of where feminism is attempting to exert control and power over men - except in ways that that challenge hundreds of years of entitlement and abuse that have previously been accepted by society - and now less so - something that is absolutely necessary for reaching anything approaching actual equality.
"When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."
Edit: This is from a 2024 article. Just because a greater number of MPs are women, doesn’t mean that abuse and harassment aren’t still a massive issue, driving at least some women from politics.
For years, women MPs have been battling through Parliament, facing off against racism, discrimination, and downright sexism! Though women’s presence in power-packed rooms has sparked some serious policy changes in recent years, we cannot ignore the elephant in the room: women MPs are still fighting an uphill battle.
MP Fay Jones recently spoke out about the disturbing online abuse and bullying women politicians face. She highlighted the negative impact of social media intimidation, and how it often stops women from entering politics. Jones has been a target of this abuse, which resulted in her reporting a death threat to the police.
The Jo Cox Foundation’s recent report on tackling abuse in politics echoes this sentiment, emphasising that political intimidation poses a significant threat to democracy. MP Mike Freer’s decision to step down due to the abuse he faced further underscores the severity of the problem. No place in politics: tackling abuse and intimidation advocates urgent action to prevent more politicians from resigning. Suggestions include social media platforms offering additional support to politicians during elections.
We live in a confusing world, a world of Dapper Laughs and Julien Blanc, who I bet sit with their legs ten miles apart at all times. A man should slouch on a bus, like the world is his E-Z chair. He got to the seat first, and he’s sitting the way that makes him feel comfy — if you don’t like it, you should either stand or just perch in the room available to you, right? Wrong.
What you are doing when you spread your legs on the bus seat is asserting your dominance, taking your throne. Sadly, for you, your subjects don’t appreciate or respect you. So snap ’em shut, bae. You’re making people feel uncomfortable, and unsafe. And nobody should aspire to that.
Manspreading is saying, “Who gives a f*** if you can’t sit, [we] are men. See [our] balls.”
