Certainly people have the right to identify what gender feels in alignment for them, but I would like to point out that many indigenous cultures have 3, 5 or even 7 genders and that thousands of Americans now identify as non-binary (either opting out of binary gender or believing that they embody both). Binary gender that is vastly differentiated from the other "option" is a central aspect of patriarchy. Even in some modern Western cultures, the opposite of man is boy, but for Americans and some others, the opposite of man is woman.
Looking forward to more discussion in this series.
