Conquest is a part of dominance-hierarchy cultures but it's the dominance hierarchy and not the conquest that equates with patriarchy. Might Makes Right is a central aspect of such a social system - not just as relates to invading other nations, but in all aspects of society. We had many thousand years of cities and kingdoms even without those aspects, so again, it's not just size of the community. But, I'm glad you enjoyed the essays.
