Conservatives typically want to "conserve" the old ways, the old hierarchies, and respect for what they consider to be legitimate authority. It's deep in their psyches and moral world views and you are absolutely right that we can't just talk them out of what is embedded in their subconscious. But, I do love the idea of spreading kindness and joy. This was a lovely story!
