Dating and love are not some kind of check-list and the fact that so many guys seem to think they are is a huge part of the problem. Different people are attracted to who they are attracted to (or no longer attracted to) for a wide variety of reasons. Hypergamy is a function of patriarchy. It's not "natural" and the more women earn as much or more than men, the less important it becomes. Women aren't leaving dating altogether because there aren't enough "high status" men (as if the percentage of those had somehow drastically changed) they are leaving dating because they no longer have to put up with a lot of the bullshit they used to because they make their own money and don't have to rely on a man for that.

The bottom line is, everyone has the right to date whoever they want to for whatever reason - a good reason, a bad reason, or one that you don't personally understand.
