Dave, you are not at all out of line. Your story and your horrible experiences matter too and I completely agree that even though most people who are raped are women being raped by men, that this isn’t the full story. From what I’ve heard, men do report even less than women do for many of the reasons that you’ve named. Even though I mostly wrote about this man raping a woman dynamic, because that was what was most relevant to the Weinstein case, I did make one mention of women and men because I know that it happens and is also underreported and underrecognized as an issue and I didn’t want to leave men out entirely.

I’m sorry that you had to experience that, but I appreciate you being brave enough to share it openly because the silence is what has kept this dynamic happening at such an extreme rate. Talking about it is what helps us all grapple more effectively, both as survivors and as citizens in general, because we better understand what is taking place.
