Everyone IS an individual, but the point of this OP is that not all men seem to recognize how true that is, and how important it is to most women for that to be recognized and for them to be treated that way.

I have no doubt that you treat your partner warmly, and cherish her specifically but also am not worried that you will buy her a Christmas present that is the same one she helped you pick out for people who work for you. As you said, you want her to know how special she is to you, and as this author notes and gives examples of, not all men understand that or act that way, and it's to their detriment.
