Except that most pro-birth folks don't actually see the life of a baby as sacred once it is born. They care nothing about what happens then - or about prenatal care for that matter. If they actually saw human life as sacred, they'd be up in arms about in vitro labs where fertilized eggs are regularly discarded, they'd be supporting mothers, both prenatally and after giving birth - but overwhelmingly they don't because the "life is sacred" mantra is a red-herring.

You are correct that these folks are clinging to an emotional stance that has no room for the nuances and pragmatic implications of that stance, but they don't actually truly care about life beyond the belief that women are meant to be birthing vessels and if one gets pregnant, she needs to fulfill that role.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
