Except that this isn't remotely true. We didn't have dominance hierarchies until the past 5k years or so. In fact, violence was so low for most of human history that what is considered evidence of the first war is from only 13,000 years ago - at Jebel Sahaba. The first cultures to smelt iron ore didn't use it for weapons, they only made tools and decorative objects with it - and they lived out on an open plain with no defensive properties.

There are no female dominated countries and there probably never have been - except perhaps the Minoans, but even so, what has that got to do with anything? Matrillineal cultures believe in balance and reciprocity between men and women, and they are overwhelming pretty peaceful and egalitarian -and decidedly not being overrun by their neighbors. In fact, even quite patriarchal countries are mostly not doing that either — they aren’t all in a constant state of war with all of their neighbors. Honestly, read this story, as well as the one above and begin to learn - because your impression of the world is deeply out of sync with the facts and history.

What Dr. Peppers said is a somewhat simplistic version of the shift from egalitarian cultures to dominance hierarchies, but it’s also a quite widely accepted and largely on track explanation. We had about 5K years of agriculture before things really changed, but that demarcation line is what got the ball rolling.

What's deeply offensive is to tell men that they are brutal animals who can't help but rape and pillage and kill - when that is simply a manifestation of the social system from the past couple of thousand years and not biology. In addition, we have cultures today all over the world where that kind of shit simply doesn't take place.

And what’s extra offensive is to use that to justify further organized hate (that women are blamed for) when some men aren’t allowed to have the type of regressive, violent, self-serving oppressive culture that the APA and 40 years of research (mostly done by men) recognizes as being extremely harmful — to men.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
