Factually speaking, women and girls are being killed, beaten, raped, harassed, and marginalized by boys and men at astounding levels that are considered just part and parcel of our culture. Would you like me start quoting you statistics, because we might be here all day? It's not being done by aliens or monsters, it's being done by boys and men. The fact that you refuse to recognize that because it's somehow unfair to men to note that is a big part of the problem. A harmful and dominance-oriented culture of masculinity is at the root of this. When boys and men start challenging that and changing it so that we don't have to suffer at the hands of masculine culture in this society, then we'll talk. Until then, stop whining and recognize that you are a huge part of the problem - because your inactions, your defensiveness, and your turning a blind eye are exactly what allows the beating and the raping and the discriminating to go on unabated. And you're right, it will have lasting consequences so you'd better get on it and start contributing to changing the culture.

Roughly 50% of women who are murdered are killed by current or former male domestic partners.

Nearly all girls will be sexually harassed before the age of 17, many of them beginning around the age of 10 or 11.

No major religions treat women as truly equal to men

Women still do the vast majority of child, elder, and home care even if they also work outside the home.

1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime

1 in 16 women say their first sexual experience was forced

Women leaders are 2X as likely as men leaders to be mistaken for someone more junior.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I could fill the entire page. The fact that you either don't know these statistics already or don't think they count for much is also a big part of the problem. Time to get to work...

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
