Free women tend to be more motivated to mate with higher status men, than men are to mate with higher status women.

Any evidence for this comes out of polygamy -male dominated societies where men have several mates but women don’t. This does not occur in actual polyamory where both men and women are free to find multiple partners. If it hadn’t worked so well in our ancient past, we wouldn’t have done it for the vast majority of human history.
