When was the last time you took your drink with you in a bar when you went to the restroom so it wouldn’t get spiked? When was the last time you took a cab or an Uber and you called a friend on the ride home to ensure that you got there in one piece?
We should absolutely not pretend that men face no violence (but no one actually does that) however, it is not out of line for women to talk about their fears and experiences with the sorts of violence that they face pretty much every day of their adult lives.
To reiterate what the author said in response to you, “If the only time you say “But what about male victims?” is in response to a discussion by, for, and about female victims, then male victims isn’t your priority — silencing women is.”
