Having a partner does not save you as a woman from being approached by aggressive, entitled, men who could well harm you if you tell them No directly. Women have been killed for refusing to give their phone number because they already had a boyfriend.

And, how exactly is a woman supposed to determine if a man is truly safe - particularly if they've just met them? Half of all murdered women are killed by their current or former intimate partners. Domestic abuse is rampant. All sorts of guys who seem great in the beginning turn out to be violent, controlling, assholes later on. It's not like there are obvious White Hats and Black Hats.
