He is a product of the system he was brought up in, but that doesn't exonerate him from the consequences of his actions. As MaryJo pointed out, your employer has the right to fire you for all sorts of reasons, as long as it's not an illegal reason, including but not limited to embarassing the employer by publicly acting like an ass. I feel bad for the guy and his family, but it also makes it clear that this type of behavior is not acceptable or "Christian" and I think that's a good message to send.
