He was first attracted to her by a picture he saw of her on social media surfing, in a bikini, poking her butt out. He knew exactly who she was, that she did modeling in bathing suits and that she taught men how to surf. He was drawn to that, and then wanted to own and control it. Control of women is a recognized mainstream masculine trait for how you show that you are "a real man." This isn't rocket science. It's sociology 101.
