Heather Hooper and Joe Duncan, I just started reading a new book that also speaks to this a bit, called Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging by Sebastian Junger. It looks at all the ways that we are designed to belong to small groups that have a clear purpose, and that how humans tend to thrive in times of crisis because of this. Depression and overall levels of crime decrease, but in our current relatively safe and individualistic world, it is the opposite.

I’m only 60 pages in but I’m really liking it so far and finding it very interesting.
