Hmm... well, I suppose it depends on what you mean by individuals. Clearly, we have separate bodies and some separate thoughts and emotions, but as previously noted, neurologists are finding that a lot of what we think of as "us" is actually part of a sort of collective unconscious. We know that being highly cooperative social animals is what kept us alive and got us out of the Stone Age, so how much were we ever truly individuals? I don't have the answer.
