How is justice going to be served if a woman is afraid that she will be the one who is shamed and punished, and not the perpetrator? That's not a just society.

And there is rampant discrimination in Saudi Arabia - against women. It is legal for men to rape their wives, to say nothing of the other ways that their dignity, honor, and personhood are controlled and violated as a systemic part of the culture.

Then there’s the way that migrants are often treated.

“Migrants were subjected to serious human rights abuses, including killings at the border with Yemen and treatment that may amount to human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation. Thousands of people were involuntarily returned to their home country as part of a nationwide crackdown on undocumented migrants. Women continued to face discrimination in law and practice.”

I’m done discussing this with you. The bottom line is, that any culture based in a dominance hierarchy where people are coerced and controlled by violence is a problematic culture.

The way to have peace and safety is to treat people with kindness and respect and give fundamental human dignity to all — not to threaten them with lashings, prison, and death.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
