How on earth can you imagine that it is infrequent for sexual assault to occur if nearly every woman you know of any age or demographic has experienced some version of sexual violence? Most women have multiple experiences with it. 1 in 6 women have been raped or had rape attempted (in the US, I'm assuming it is similar in Oz), but pretty much every woman has been harassed, stalked, groped, pressured into doing things they don't want to do, etc. throughout their lives starting at about age 10. I have honestly never met a woman who hasn't had multiple experiences with this starting in childhood.

1 in 16 women in America have had their first sexual experience be a forced one (a nice way of saying they were essentially raped) because they were either coerced, held down, drugged, threatened, or simply overpowered.

The doctors who headed the researcher team concluded: “Forced sexual initiation in women appears to be common and associated with multiple adverse reproductive and general health outcomes. These findings highlight the possible need for public health measures and sociocultural changes to prevent sexual violence, particularly forced sexual initiation.”

That doesn't mean I'm asserting that all men are doing this, but it is entirely besides the point if we live in a culture that tolerates it. And, this also has no bearing on the assertion that false accusations are common and ruining the lives of men left and right - which they absolutely are not.

25% of US college guys have admitted to coercing women into doing things they don't actually want to do - and that's just the number willing to admit that to researchers, so one supposes it is rather more than that. This kind of negates your idea that 3% of men are responsible for all of the sexual violence in a given society.
