"Still, when I first wrote about Tate’s rise in popularity and why it’s worrying, to say the very least, many people dismissed my concerns as entirely irrational because, apparently, not many men take him seriously anyway.
Well. If that was one of you, oh boy, do I have a surprise for you.
According to recent YouGov survey data, one in four young men in the UK agree with his views on women, which include believing that women are men’s property, belong at home and shouldn’t be allowed to drive, among many other similarly disturbing things."
Over 100 deaths in the past 10 years have been attributed to incels - most of them women - and their violent rhetoric spreads every day. Pretending like all this “manosphere” shit isn't a huge and very real problem is purposely putting your head in the sand.
Edit: “Again, it’s easy to think of these men as tiny minorities: a few sad and deluded individuals, clinging to obscure internet fringe groups as a way to feel a sense of belonging. But the reality, as with all the manosphere groups I have investigated, is that these are massive communities and internet spaces, populated by hundreds of thousands of people. When you visit the 4chan /b/ board, for example, widely acknowledged as one of the most infamous trolling platforms on the internet, posts flood in faster than you are able to read them.
Intimate photographs of women are shared without their consent, rape fantasies are swapped, and “worthy” trolling targets are eagerly discussed. Women are referred to in derogatory and dehumanizing terms, alongside deeply anti-Semitic jokes and posts about the Holocaust. A user posted a picture of an actress and encouraged others to comment on how they’d “fuck [her] to death.”
