I actually noted several times in this piece that we're all a product of our socialization. I even pointed out a couple of times that women can and do sometimes uphold problematic masculine gender norms. The very first sentence of the essay is that Americans don't understand the role that our culture plays in how we think and behave. It's only later that I note how this dynamic relates to men.
You are strangely unable to perceive anything that doesn't align with your martyr complex for men even when it's right in front of you in black and white.
