I adored Nyad and beyond the stellar "triumph of the human spirit" aspect, I appreciated that being lesbians wasn't a major plot device - it was just who they happened to be.
My husband James and I have often noted the way that too often, gay characters are the villain - their sexual orientation yet just another part of what's "wrong" with them. I really want to see a lot more stories with people of different sexual orientations, gender identities, or relationship styles where that isn't the main point of the story.
