I agree that some therapists aren't much help and that a lot of online self-help for men is dangerous. That's why I recommended The Good Men Project. Justin Baldoni has some good online stuff, including a TEDTalk. Anything from Tony Porter will be solid and he has a TEDTalk as well. He's been a leader in healthy masculinity for decades.

This is a little bit ancillary but might well be helpful - there's a great, short book by Debbie Ford called The Dark Side of the Light Chasers. It's about identifying and working with your shadow, learning how to integrate it back into your psyche. Our shadow is the things we've disavowed about ourselves, usually because we've been shamed around them, or been told by parents or others that they are not acceptable. Learning to accept those parts of ourselves actually gives us access to a fuller human experience but also comes with many unexpected gifts. The book is full of Debbie's own personal experiences and struggles but also includes a series of short exercises for identifying and accessing your shadow self. I highly recommend it.

It frustrates me to no end how gender is so envisioned as a binary (when it's clearly not - we all have Yin and Yang traits in mixes that are individual). It's stupid to have "rules" about what is the correct way to be a man or a woman. It provides no benefit and it comes with a lot of harm and downsides, particularly in a world where more and more people identify as non-binary. I don't know why we can't just leave people alone to be who they actually are and focus on being good people, rather than some artificial binary that nobody fits into entirely.

Thanks for your kind words. I sure appreciate it!

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
