I agree with you on so much of this, but how do we get men who are bought into a zero sum system, (someone has to lose in order for someone else to win) to realize that everyone loses in this social system? From what I've experienced and witnessed, there is a huge perception that even acknowledging that the system is harmful reads for many men as a failure to "cut it" in that system. Ergo, they don't want to even admit there is a problem. Granted, younger men are doing somewhat better with this, but it's an incremental improvement IMO.

One of the topics that I most often write about is patriarchy as a dominance based hierarchy, meaning essentially that it is a dominance based caste system that involves all sorts of social stratifications, not just gender. It really is the ocean that we swim in as a culture, and so many of the manifestations of it are largely subconscious. And, that's why it's so important to have stories like this one, particularly coming from a man - so thanks for doing that!

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
