I appreciate hearing from you on this and apologize if you felt that I was insensitive in any way. Obviously, I missed a whole segment of perspective on this because as you've said, I'm a white woman.

My main point in this piece was that although I've seen a lot of commentary about what the men did, there has been little to nothing asking Jada how she felt and what she wanted, as well as to talk about my own perspective on whether I personally want to be protected by a man. And, I can see how this piece might very well read as having taken a situation that had nothing to do with me or my cultural experience and appropriating it. I'm sorry for that, if it is the case.
