I appreciate hearing your perspective although I don’t entirely agree with it. A lot of this comes out of patriarchal paradigms that tell both men and women who they are supposed to be. Some women do want to be taken care of financially but a lot of them don’t. Almost 50% of family breadwinners are women and it’s also interesting to note that in families where the woman makes more money, she still does the bulk of the housework. It’s like some fucked up payback from guys who feel emasculated by that to make sure she still knows her place as a woman. All of this needs to be dismantled so that people can be people and families can do what works for them without trying to shoehorn into some kind of rules constructed by others.

Patriarchy harms us all and I totally see the way that it harms men in particular, which is different than the way that it harms women, but it’s none of it good. We need to find our way back to a kinder, saner, more cooperative way of relating to each other that isn’t based in domination and one-ups-manship.
