I can. He gave no thought to getting to know her and then gauging any potential interest. He essentially said to her, "You look like tasty meat, can I have some?" That's not cool, and the fact that most men don't realize that's problematic is the real issue. Almost no women are open to being approached like that because almost no women want to be commodified and objectified when they're just trying to go about their business.

Too bad that his uncle gave him such poor advice. Flirting is a dialogue, not a monologue and you need to have some sense before you launch into it if the other person is even remotely interested or open to you doing that. It takes building rapport and paying attention to the other person's cues - which in the age of dating apps and hook-up culture, seems to be an entirely lost art. The solution to this problem is educating young people about how to have some basic social skills, I think.
