I certainly have no actual control whatsoever to determine how narratives shift. All I can do is to make relevant information available so that people have a broader picture than the fairy tale they've been told about how we've essentially always lived just this way, but for modern conveniences. Many, many people have thanked me for doing that. Some have had a conniption fit and attacked me because they like their narrative the way it is and don't want to see that challenged, but that's the price of doing business I guess, so I put up with it. I have no power to either coerce or restrict anyone - my dogs don't even listen to me, so I'm not imagining that I can make anyone else do much of anything.

Your subconscious mind was not born fully formed from the head of Zeus like Athena. What I have described to you is what cognitive science says about how a subconscious is formed. Certainly, there are things in adulthood that continue to influence what is in there, but most of it comes from what you are exposed to in childhood - both from the immediate environment and from the wider culture -and most of it not in your control. Self-aware people have the ability to examine that and determine whether they want to keep what has seeped in there all on its own, but most people are not very self-aware. Most people are sheep who have very little actual individualism. In fact, cognitive science has determined that some of this can't be helped because our sense of who we are as individuals comes in part from other people. We are, after all, highly social pack animals, and there is really not such things as someone who is an island of individualism, as much as some would like to believe that. So yes, the culture you grow up in, and the subculture(s) exert a huge amount of influence over how you react and behave and even sometimes believe that you are thinking. It is possible to learn to work with that and bring more of it into your conscious awareness so that you can decide what to do with it, but most people aren't willing to work that hard - or to even recognize that they are mostly just sheep. 🐑 Baa!

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
