I completely agree with the author about how this school went way too far and sent a wrong message but you are deluding yourself if you think that women haven't been and aren't still treated as second-class citizens. A mere 50 years ago there were laws and social norms that codified this and those attitudes haven't exactly vanished. Women couldn't get home or business loans in their own name or a credit card, they could be fired for being pregnant, could be raped by their husbands with no recourse, couldn't go to Ivy League colleges, weren't hired at law firms, etc., etc., etc.
You need to educate yourself about what the real world is actually like so that we can all work together to help create a bettter one for everybody.
