I didn't say it was an insignificant amount of time, I said it was the recent past because it accounts for about 3% of human history. I absolutely agree that economics drives cultures, which is why I mentioned that the advent of agriculture was the catalyst for a more hierarchical and class-based system.

I regularly encounter men who want to talk to me about how dominant males have had a major impact on human behavior asserting that this has been since the beginning of time. This piece is simply laying out the case for why that is not true since for most of human history, male dominance has been actively kept in check by reverse hierarchies and enforced egalitarianism.

There are currently about 25 major US cities where women under 30 earn as much or more than men. As this becomes more and more prevalent, I will be curious to see how it impacts the culture.
