I didn't think you were saying that, but I do believe it's what the person who originally made that meme was saying (either consciously or more likely subconsciously as she reiterated her programming as a woman).

There's nothing at all wrong with anyone missing someone they love - obviously, but as I said in the OP, you can't cater to every whim of the people you love on the off chance that they might up and die. I knew my mom was dying and I still had to tell her no at times, or make space for my own needs because to do otherwise was jeopardizing my own health.

And it took me a couple months of being exhausted and unhealthy before I started saying no, because I was living out my programming too. This was my point. I don't regret not being able to fulfill my mom's every desire though, because that isn't what love is about. At least I don't think that it is.
