I do find it interesting how different types of people, often from specific regions in the Old Country, have settled in different areas in the US, helping to infuse those geographic areas with certain characteristics.

I entirely agree that the military and corporations are also very hierarchical, and although I’ve spent a good deal of time around people from both, the most passive-aggressive folks I know as a group are the highly religious. I think it has to do with the additional element of infallibility and being beloved of god (so how can we challenge him) that makes that the case.
